LOS ANGELES, Dec 14 — Word is out that Ed Sheeran is quitting social media, but before you’ll start wondering if it’s for good, rest assured it’s just temporary.
The British singer-songwriter took to Instagram to announce that he’s planning an extended hiatus from social media until next autumn at the earliest.
“Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while. I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.”
The singer added, “If you love me, you will understand me buggering off for a bit.” As for the rest of us, we’ll just have to take solace in his parting promise that “the third album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far.”
The “Thinking Out Loud” singer ended the note with “See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing.”
Sheeran’s departure post has already racked up more than 38,000 comments filled with a mix of well wishes and crying emojis.
In a recent interview with Australian radio station Nova on December 7, Sheera revealed that he’s being forced to take some time off to recover from ear surgery when he gets back home to the UK.
