The series is an original thriller based on a world created by King in his works, and is named after Castle Rock, the fictional town in King's native Maine that is featured prominently in a number of his stories, including IT, Needful Things, and Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption.

Abrams will serve as one of the executive producers on the show.

The series will stream exclusively in the US on Hulu with Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution handling global distribution.
