The film, based on Jeff Malmberg’s 2010 documentary Marwencol, also stars Leslie Mann, Janelle Monae and Baby Driver actress Eiza Gonzalez.

The feature will follow the story of a man (Carell) who builds a miniature WWII-era village to help him get over a terrible life event, and — according to the studio — depicts “one broken man’s fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit” (via ComingSoon).

Kruger will play Deja Thoris, the Belgin Witch of Marwen who, in a recurring scenario, revives Carell’s alter ego every time he is killed by Nazis. — AFP-Relaxnews
