IPOH, Jan 13 — Perak Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir urged veteran Umno members today to contribute their knowledge and wisdom for party's campaign in the 14th general election.
The Perak mentri besar said the group included many former and experienced leaders, whom he believed could help the party to win over voters.
“Their (Umno veterans) role in the election is big. They are the ones who will give a massive impact on the votes.
“They should use their experience and knowledge to disseminate the ideas of the party and gain support from their family and friends,” he told reporters after attending “Jelajah Veteran Sehati Sejiwa” programme in the Meru multipurpose hall here.
Zambry, who is also the state Barisan Nasional (BN) chief, said that he was confident the stalwarts remained loyal to Umno and the coalition.
“We admit there are some challenges after our former leader Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad left the party, but the majority of our veterans is still loyal to the party.
“We can see their support based on their attendance to our programme such as the Jelajah Veteran Sehati Sejiwa, which was held in various constituencies in Perak since last year,” said Zambry.
The 14th general election must be called by June 24, but is expected to be held sooner.
