Ng Pei Ven, who was allegedly under the influence of amphetamine during the incident on Tuesday, claimed trial to the charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 at the Bukit Mertajam magistrate’s court, the Star Online news portal reported today.

The charge carries a sentence of no more than two years’ jail or a fine upon conviction.

Ng is also being investigated for reckless driving over the incident.

In a video of the Tuesday crash that has since spread online, a blue Proton Gen2 allegedly driven by Ng was shown speeding against traffic on the fast lane of the PLUS near Permatang Pauh.

A subsequent video showed the aftermath of a collision that involved three other vehicles and left the driver of one, Mohamad Fandi Rosli, 26, dead.

Four other people were injured in the crash.

Ng was then taken into custody, and Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul later said she tested positive for amphetamine use.
