KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun celebrated the RM9 billion his agency will receive next year, calling Budget 2018 the “the best” one in the force’s history.
He said the sum was arguably the most the Royal Malaysia Police has ever been allocated, adding that it will provide a major boost to his force’s bid to combat extremism as well as permit him to modernise the agency’s equipment.
“This is probably the best and largest budget given to us since 20 years ago. I am very happy with this as it covers all aspects. We can build new police stations, acquire more firearms and personnel will also be given 10,000 residential units,” he said.
He also said the sum would be a major boost to the force’s morale.
Additionally, Putrajaya also said it would build 10,000 affordable homes for the force under a 1Malaysia Public Servant Housing-PDRM joint-agency programme, with prices set according to current salaries of officers.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said at the unveiling of the Budget that the initiative is meant to safeguard the welfare of the force.
