The Gelang Patah MP said all Malaysians, regardless of their race or creed, deserve support if they “stand up for a democratic nation, which upholds the principles of justice and accountability.”

He said this in a speech at the 51st DAP anniversary dinner in Nibong Tebal last night.

“The forthcoming 14th General Election is not a battle between Malays and Chinese, nor is it a battle between Islam and the enemies of Islam.

“The question of race and religion does not apply here, as there are Malaysians, regardless of race or religion, on both sides of the equation.”

Lim added that fear mongering is simply caused by parties who fear a power switch and warned that if such unwarranted allegations are left unchecked, they could truly spark chaos.

He said the on-ground reality was very different from the “incessant politicking and communalisation in the past few years” which created a false picture that the  DAP-led Penang state government is anti-Malay and anti-Islam when in fact, their nine-year record to help the Malays and Islam is better than the previous Barisan Nasional government.

Without referring directly to a recent blog posting by Raja Petra Kamarudin who alleged that the DAP and Pakatan Harapan are turning the next general election into a Malay versus Chinese agenda, Lim’s speech seemed to allude to it.
