GEORGE TOWN, Feb 27 ― A couple has been arrested for murder after their Indonesian maid was found lifeless in their home.
The 38-year-old woman was found unconscious on her bed at about 11.50am last Saturday at the couple's home in Jelutong.
She was rushed to the hospital and declared dead upon arrival.
According to Northeast District Police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, a post-mortem report has revealed that the cause of death was due to blunt force trauma to the chest.
“Initial investigations showed that she has been working with this couple as a maid for the past two years,” he told reporters today.
He said the employers claimed that the maid had slipped and fallen from the staircase of the double-storey house at about 12.45am on Saturday.
“After that, the employer claimed to have taken her into her room to rest and in the morning, they had found her unconscious on her bed before calling an ambulance,” he said.
Immediately after the post-mortem report was released, the employers, a 42-year-old woman and her 48-year-old husband, have been arrested in connection with the case.
“They have been remanded for a week until March 5 for further investigations,” ACP Mior said.
The police are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
