66 flash flood victims in Hulu Langat placed in relief centres

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 — A total of 66 people from 14 families in Kampung Sungai Serai, Hulu Langat, Selangor are staying at SK Sungai Serai relief centre following flash floods today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Mohd Sani Harul when contacted by Bernama said the floods were due to heavy rainfall from 8.30am till noon.
A survey by Bernama at the village found several victims returning home to collect essential items.
Hanidah Awang Kechik, 54, said this was the second time floods occurred since last Friday.
“I could only save some important documents. The water level went up to the waist, and the situation became chaotic when the people tried to save their belongings.”
Trader Muhammad Junaidi Abdul Aziz,28, said the heavy rains since morning had caused Sungai Serai to overflow, and this affected his house that is situated in a low-lying area — Bernama
